Every piece of barbecue is smoked fresh each morning, and when the day's meat sells out, the doors close. Denny refuses to serve barbecue that wasn't cooked that day.

The philosophy hasn't changed since the gas station: feed people like you are family.

From a gas station to the national lists

    A husband-and-wife team starts smoking in a repurposed Gatlinburg gas station

    Hard to find, no frills, about four miles from downtown on East Parkway. Counter ordering and country music.

  • 2017

    Yelp names it one of the Top 100 Places to Eat in America

    Rankings climbed as high as #10 BBQ restaurant in the country, and #7 for brisket.

  • 2018

    Travel + Leisure lists the Top 25 Best Places for Barbecue

    June 2018. The hole-in-the-wall dive was now a national destination.

  • 2025

    Landlord issues end a decade in Gatlinburg

    The old landmark closed that September. By fall the smoker was running again at 1305 Dolly Parton Parkway in Sevierville, with a bigger kitchen and about four tables.
