Seal Harbor is the village most Acadia traffic drives past: seven miles from Bar Harbor, three miles from Northeast Harbor, on the doorstep of the national park and a short walk from the beach.
The village has about three places to eat. This is the one the same family has run since 1959, and the only one serving a full menu from breakfast through dinner.
The kitchen is small and the dining room is calm. Lunch moves at village pace here, and the chowder is worth the wait.

Lighthouse Inn & Restaurant is family owned and operated, now in its third generation. The dining room wears the history well: murals of Seal Harbor in its different seasons, pressed tin ceilings, and bay and octagonal windows onto the village street.
There is a full bar, and the family’s own advice has not changed: “grab a stool at the historic bar.”
And the inn half of the name? Upstairs sit three small guest rooms, the Blue, the Gold and the Pink.
