Emre & Ahmet

Two cousins who call Bar Harbor home

We are Emre and Ahmet, cousins from Turkey. More like brothers, really: our moms are sisters, and we grew up side by side.

Emre came to Bar Harbor in 2017 through the J-1 program, and Ahmet followed the next year. We worked four straight seasons at Cafe This Way, and we live on the island year round.

In June 2025 we opened our own place at 270 Main Street. We renovated the little storefront ourselves, painted the walls blue, and set picnic tables and a fire pit on the side lawn. Everything on the menu starts with our family’s recipes, down to the homemade hummus.

Stay for tea

Turkish tea comes out in armudi glasses, the little pear-shaped ones. There is draft beer and wine, and when the evening turns cool, the fire pit on the side lawn does its job.
